Blogs Merged

I have transferred and merged all of my previous blogs thanks to the easy WP export and import feature.

There maybe some disorganization of posts and categories along with the fact I have a generic theme running – all will be resolved… eventually.

Gravatar Enabled

I have set up the comments to display your gravatar. What is a gravatar? It is an avatar that is housed in a central location and is tied to your email address.

So, when you post a comment and enter in an email address that has an associated Gravatar, your avatar will be displayed.

If you don’t have a gravatar, go get one at www.gravatar.com. Also, when you go to other blogs that have gravatars enabled, your avatar will show up there.

TIP: When you crop your image – if you want to use the full image, then crop the entire thing but be careful as the crop tool may cover the upload button. So, when you click the button, you are actually resenting the crop tool and the crop properties will become null and you will get a lovely black square as your avatar. So, if you crop to display the entire image, click near the very bottom of the upload button, or use the one on top. I think there is one there as well.

PS – Gravatar.com seems to be stuck in an endless loop.

Neato.

New Design

I published a new design I just finished. Trying to keep away from the hey, that is a WordPress template and the whole blog ‘look’.

I use WordPress and just create my own themes and I find it pretty easy. This took me about six hours to design, optimize, code and deploy.

I’ll be making small updates periodically. Please review the FAQs prior to asking questions.

Thanks!

Thumbnails Added

After thinking long and hard and getting some feedback from several of you, I have added more posts to the index page. But, I do not like having a long list with the full size pictures. The solution is I added a thumbnail plug-in.

I leveraged Alakhnor’s Post Thumb Revisited plug-in. My virus alert mentioned something about the zip file while decompressing trying to send a message out so just FYI.

Also, when I wanted to change the dimensions of my thumbnails, I noticed it didn’t resize for those it already thumbnailed, so I just deleted them out of the folder and then it resaved to the updated size.

The script will create thumbs as users request them but only once. So, if it finds images it hasn’t thumbed and it is being requested by a page, it will create it. Otherwise, it knows if it has already created the thumbnail previously based on what’s in the specified upload folder.

Hope you like the feature.

Uhh ohh!

Well, something happened to my site again and I am trying to narrow down the cause.

I do not run any plug ins to my theme so I am somewhat baffled. This impacted my other sites as well so it maybe related to my host service. But, when one seemed to be back up, others had issues.

With that said, I have turned off registration in order to isolate the issues.
